Episode 8

Ryan's Pov
I smiled as I felt her heartbeat against mine. She feels the same way I do. I have a crush on this girl. Does she even know?
I'm not ready to tell her that because of our parents. They'd kill us if they even see us together like this.
I began to stroke her hair and when I wanted to pull away from her, she held me tight.
"Can we stay like this for a little while? I need to be comforted."
"No!" I said strongly as I pulled her away from my arms. "You are a girl and you are not meant to be out this late."
She sat on the bench and I sat beside her.
After a while, "I had a fight with my dad." We said together and we chuckled.
"You go first." I told her and she sighed.
She told me everything that happened and I told her what happened too.
"Why are you suddenly silent?"
"I don't like Brenda." She murmured.
"I heard that."
"Why?"
"Because..........
"Natalia!" Someone yelled "Where are you?"
"Guess you have to go."
"Yep. See you in school tomorrow." She said as she stood up. She turned to walk away and I grabbed her hand, pulled her closer to myself, placed a light peck on her cheek, then hurried away.
Natalia's Pov
I opened my eyes as I removed my hand from my cheek.
"What did you.......?" I looked around me and Ryan was nowhere to be found.
Gosh!
Why did he do that?
My insides tumbled and tumbled with excitement until someone put a light in my face.
"Arrrrrgh!" I yelled
"Why did you run out like that?"
"Mom?" I heaved a sigh of relief when it turned out to be her.
Someone tapped me from behind and I turned, another light in my face.
"Arrrrrgh!" I screamed again and I heard Jackson's rich laughter.
"You know its not funny." I said as I stomped away and they came behind me. Jackson hurried to my side.
"Just so you know, you have pink spots on your cheeks."
I stopped on my tracks and Jackson ran ahead. I placed a hand on my cheeks, willing it inside but mom poked me from behind and I hurried way.
Please, pink spots, get off my face before dad sees it!

"Girls, don't you think its too early for this?" I asked as I glared at the slay queens. I have not even been to my class and here I am, in an empty classroom, entertaining glares and stares from the three of them.
"You made Brenda cry!" Veron yelled.
I think this girl really really hates my guts because of Brenda.
"And what business of mine is that?" I asked and a slap was about to land on my face if Brenda had not stopped it.
"Stop jumping, will you?" They began to argue again, as usual, I used that to escape. I ran as fast as my legs could carry me. I opened the door to the classroom.
"Good morning!" I said quickly as I ran to my seat. I sat down and was about to settle down until I heard my name,
"Miss Jones?"
"Yes, miss Midge." I said as I looked at her.
"I will let this go because you are a new-bie. I don't like late-comers. If you are a minute late, don't bother coming to my class."
"Yes, ma'am."
I was late because I had to walk down to school, Jackson went earlier 'cos he had practice and those girls made me extremely late.
"Stop frowning and spill it out." Ryan whispered.
"Later, we are in class." I told him and then out of the blue, the peck he gave me last night popped into my mind and I blushed, like crazy again.
"Pink spots? What are you up to?"
"Shut it!" I said as I frowned and he chuckled.
"You know I hate that!" Miss Midge yelled and I kept shut.

"If you will just sit there, staring into space, I'd advice you at least take something." A girl said as she dropped a tray on the table.
I snapped out of my thoughts and I looked at her "Sorry?"
"You look pretty without the gloomy look."
"Thank you." I smiled "But, you are?"
"Anna Canes!" She said sweetly and I giggled. She acts cute. I think I like her already.
"If you don't want my company, I could go." She said as she opened her whole eyes and I laughed out loud.
Anna's Pov
Yes!
That's the point!
I wanted you to laugh!
And besides, I want to be her friend too. Immediately she stepped into the class yesterday, I felt like we've bonded already.
"You can stay. I'm enjoying your company."
"Whoa, whoa, whoa, look who is here!" Brenda said as she came over to our table and I held myself from lashing out at her.
"Excuse us, Anna. We need this table." Marley said
"Not in a million years." I said simply
"What?" Veron asked out of shock "Don't you know who we are?"
"And so freaking what?"
"Anna, let's just go." Natalia said as she tried to stand up and I glared at her.
"If you take a step.........."
She sat back quietly and I stood up. I began to stretch and crack my knuckles. I stood in front of Brenda, "Know who I am?"
"I don't care." She said as she hissed.
"Really?" I scoffed "its Anna.......Canes."
They gasped as they scurried backwards."If you don't want to get your butts kicked, leave this place at once!"
"Fine! I will go Anna but you've not seen the last of me, and you, new girl."
Natalia's Pov
What?
Did she just call me a new girl?
Oh God!
How I hate name tags!
But I'm really surprised at what Anna did. She sat again after those girls were gone.
"How did you do that?"
She giggled.
"That's the advantage of having a fighter as a dad. My dad is a black belt degree holder in taekwondo. You could say I have some skills too."
"Wow!" I marvelled as I looked at her. "Thanks for sticking up for me."
"Its okay, Natalia. You................" She stopped as her gaze trailed off. She kept staring until I decided to look and guess what? She was staring at.................. Ryan!
What?
I looked at her and she was still looking.
I snapped my fingers in her face "Anna, are you still there?"
She looked at me suddenly, "You know what? I can't just get enough of him. He is too cute and handsome. You won't believe I've been crushing on him since middle school."
"What?"
She giggled again "Don't be so surprised, Natalia......................look, he is coming towards us."
"Hello." Ryan said as he pulled my hair and I wailed.
"That's painful, Ryan!" I whispered and I saw the shocked look on her face.
Ryan sat down
"Hey, Anna." He said as he smiled.
Why is he even smiling?
I frowned a bit.
"Hold on a sec, you guys know each other?
"Yep!" I said absent-mindedly
"We are besties........and neighbours!"
Ryan put in
All of a sudden, I caught her glaring at me.

Natalia's Pov
"I saw those eyes!" I said as I glared back at her and she smiled.
"Just fooling around. Don't you play?"
I looked down "Sorry!" I mumbled.
Anna's Pov
Fooling around my foot!
Its not really fair!
I've been dying to just see a day like this where I will have a normal conversation with Ryan, but a new girl is claiming to be his friend and neighbour.
How I wish I was the one
Life is not really fair!
I looked at the two of them playing and hitting each other as if I was not there.
Gosh!
I can't take this anymore.
I stood up "Excuse me!" I mumbled before running away.
Ryan's Pov
"What's wrong with her?"
"Who knows?" She said as she scoffed.
"Natty?"
"Whaaaaaat?" She drawled.
"She is your friend, right?"
"I can't say." She said simply
Natalia's Pov
What's wrong with me?
Why am I behaving like a bitch?
Is it because I'm jealous?
This isn't me!
I just pray she is fine.
"Well, I think she is my friend."
"What? I didn't hear you correctly."
"You heard me well, Ryan James! About last night..................."
"Oh.....hey Leo.........." He stood up and he ran out.

Ryan will get it from me.
I stood up when the bell was jingled.
I stepped out of the cafeteria, tripped on someone's foot and I fell terribly.
"Hahahahaha" The students erupted into a wild laughter and I felt like crying.
Is this how terrible a school can be?
No one to help me up...................until
"Oh my God! I'm so sorry!" She said as she smiled. She crouched to my level "Stay away from Brenda's man."
She stretched out her hand to pull me up and I shoved it away.
"Well..........."She straightened and she went her way.

Ryan's Pov
"Give that back!" Cynthia yelled again and I felt like slapping her.
"Shut it, will you?" I yelled
"I wish you were never my brother." She said as she stomped away
"Me neither!" I said to her back.
I thought she had left until she charged at me and I met myself on the floor, with Cynthia sitting on my back. She pinned my hands backwards.
"Arrrgh! Arrrgh! Let go!" I yelled.
"No way!" She pulled my arms again.
"Cee, please." I begged 'cos I was in total discomfort. "Please." I pleaded again
"Fine! Can I have the remote now?"
"You win, ma'am!" She stood up and I sighed.
I forgot that Cee can be crazy at times. She is only 14. And what is the source of her craziness? The remote control! She loves watching combat movies and I can't blame her. I'm not the sort to hit a girl but man, I have suffered in her hands.
"Mind getting up from there?"
I stood up quickly and I ran to my room.
"Thank you, Ryan. I love you like berries!" She yelled and I scoffed.
Love?
Berries?
What a joke!
Brenda's Pov
"Dad, let's go visit the James." I said as I pouted. "Its been months since we saw them."
"Are you really sure about this?"
"Yes and I want to hang out with Ryan too. I see less of him at school." I pouted again and my dad sighed.
"Fine, if its what my princess wants, I'd do it. Tell your mom to tell her friend, Beatrice. We'd go there on Saturday."
"Yeeeees!" I screamed "Thanks, dad. I love you."
He chuckled.
"Now, go!"
I stood up and I ran to mom.
Natalia's Pov
Now, come to think of it.
Ryan avoided me totally after lunch break in school. His seat was beside me in class but he swapped with Leo for the remaining lectures and after closing hours, he sent Leo to tell me that we couldn't go home together.
Though, I was disappointed, I didn't let it show.
I went over to the window and I looked out across the streets, the lights in the James mansion were still on. I opened the window and the cold night air came as a blast to my face.
Ryan, did I do something wrong?
Ryan's Pov
I opened the window and I sighed deeply. This is really what my life looks like. I can't express my feelings to the girl I like because of our parents. We are all enemies. How will I even tell her I have a crush on her? My dad would put a knife to my throat if he knows I am playing with the enemy.
I looked over to the Jones mansion and all the lights were out. I guess they are all asleep. I avoided her because I couldn't give an answer to the question she wanted to ask.
Ryan James, why did you do what you did last night?
I sighed again.
I wish the fights would just end.
Natalia's Pov
What a very nice way to be called a good student!
I have been to school for just two days and the next day, I had to skip because I was not feeling too well. Anytime I feel slightly ill, the food and snacks at home will also suffer with me. I rubbed my palms together as I opened the refrigerator
"Now, who is going first?"
Ryan's Pov
"Have you seen Natalia this morning?" I asked Anna and she hiccuped "Are you okay?"
"Yes....... I haven't see her.........I thought....you were......neighbours........"
"Yes. I did something bad yesterday, so, she might be mad at me or something."
"Well.....I.......don't.....know."
"Okay thanks." I tapped her cheeks lightly and I walked away.
Anna's Pov
I ran to the rest room 'cos my heart was about to explode.
Ryan touched my cheeks!
I jumped up and down
I looked into the mirror and I saw pink spots on my cheeks.
Awwwwwww
Someone coughed behind me and I sighed.
"Something happened?"
She asked as she came to wash her hands.
"None of your business, Veron. Stay away from me."
"You know that is not possible..........'Cos we are.........family."
I gritted my teeth.
This isn't happening!
"What did you just say?"
"You heard me right, cousin! And besides, go easy on me whenever I'm with my friends. You don't want  the whole school to know we are related."
She dried her hands before walking out and I looked at the door in silence.
I really hate that girl!
But, what can I do?
Her father is my uncle!
Gross!
