~~~~Chapter Three(3)~~~~
"She is not picking up." Justin said after a moment of numerous failed attempts.
"Are you trying to play with us, Justin?" His father asked angrily. "Do you even love her?"
Justin flared up. "How can you ask that, dad?" He asked angrily. "You were there for the wedding......you were fucking there!"
"Shut your stinking mouth! You don't talk to me that way!" He fired back. "Its really obvious you married for the wrong reasons."
"Dad......." He called silenty, getting scared of what he was about to say.
"Julian would manage this company better than you who got married for the wrong reasons."
"Dad, its not what you think.......I married her because I love her."
His last words sounded so fake in his ears because he said it without emotions. He prayed no one noticed it.
And then, his phone rang.
He jumped suddenly when he saw Anne's face on the screen.
The woman beside him spoke up. "His wife, there.......listen up people....place it on speaker, boy."
Everyone looked at him immediately and he prayed silently.
Act along, Anne.
He picked the call and he placed it on loudspeaker.
"The sunshine that brightens my day." He said too quickly for Anne to get the message.
Get used to it because that's what I'd do anytime we have an audience.
Anne snapped out of her sudden shock and she acted along.
"The sweetness of my heart, missing me already?" She asked as she giggled over the phone and Justin smiled.
He heaved a sigh of utmost relief.
"You know I'm damn well missing you and the sweetness of your lips."
She giggled again.
"Don't be naughty, my love.....how is your day at work?"
"Stressful and annoying!" He said as he glared at his father and a smile found its way to his father's lips.
"Sorry!" He mouthed as he pointed to Justin's phone.
"Awwww, my love, just come back to me, safe and in one piece, okay?"
"I will, baby........I love you more than you could ever imagine."
"This I know, and, I love you too."
His father raised a hand for him to end the call and he smiled. "Talk to you later, girl."
He blew kisses into the phone and he ended the call.
He dropped the phone and he saw smiles on everyone faces.....well, except one man.
The next thing he knew, they were applauding him.
He bowed, beaming with happiness.
"I present to you, the new CEO of Canarro Inc."
Everyone applauded again and Justin's heart leapt with joy.
Annabeth, I owe you one!
He thought to himself as he received handshakes from the board members,
Anne, who has been glaring at the picture of that woman didn't know her phone was ringing until Star brought it to her.
7 missed calls from 'butt-head'.
She had called him back without thinking twice, thinking something bad had happened to him and when he had said 'The sunshine that brightens my day', she was shocked until she remembered his words. She had put two and two together and she concluded that he was in the midst of so many people. It could also be possible that the phone was on speaker.
Tears escaped her eyes as she looked at her phone.
How she wished those words he said were true even if she meant everything she said.
She took a last glance at the picture of the woman before going out of the painting room.
She closed the door suddenly and she padded her way to their room, ready to have her bath and come back for breakfast.
If Justin leaves the house very early every morning, would she be able to cook for him?
Why would she even cook for him?
He has no love for her so, why would she do that?
There are maid-servants to do that for him.
Why would she spoil her nails with the heat from the cooker?
Damn him and that request!
She opened the door to the bathroom and she went in.
Hours after lunch, Anne decided to explore the house, putting on a yellow floral dress that stopped way above her knees and a tight jean that accentuated her feminine attributes, she started exploring. She started with the interior part of the second floor.
She continued to open and open doors until she got bored.
Exploring the house alone with no one to express her delight with, she turned to walk away but decided to check the last door. She opened the door and she went in. She stood rooted to a spot when she saw a piano as big as the one in her high school.
Should this be a private or a public residence?
Everything she had seen since she started exploring could be a sight for sore eyes.
Her stomach lurched with excitement as she went over to the piano.
She sat down.
She cracked her knuckles before pressing one of the keys.
The sound came as a balm to her soul as she relived old memories.
She had been a young girl of 17 when she wanted to be a famous pianist.
That dream had died down when her parents had banned her from entering the national competition for talented youngsters because there was no money to pay for her flight ticket.
She had cried out her eyes.
Her father and mother tried their possible best to console her but nothing seemed to work so they had left her alone.
She cried for two more days before throwing out the small piano in her room.
Now, seeing this piano, she felt like throwing herself into the mix and allow the feeling of touching a piano again overwhelm her.
She placed her fingers on the keys and she got carried away.
He thought he knew everything about her, seems its not all he knew and Anne keeps surprising him with everything she does. He looked at his wrist-watch, almost 11 and Anne was still there playing the piano, oblivious to the fact that he was watching her.
The piano belonged to Scarlet or so, he had thought when she'd run up to this room to work out her magic on the piano. She wrote a song for him and she had played it to him.
That song was a song he could never forget, not even in a million years.
But, why couldn't he forget this song?
He and Scarlet has been separated for years now.
Or, is he still in love with her?
Anne finished playing her piece and she wiped the tears flowing down her cheeks.
She can never play the piano again even if she wanted to. She stood up and she turned, she sat back on the chair as she came face to face with that tall, handsome figure at the doorway. He even had flowers in hand.
For her?
She scoffed.
She smiled as Justin walked into the room completely.
He tossed the flower and the jacket in his hand away, he carried her in his arms.
"What are you doing?" She tried not to yell.
"I'm carrying my wife to bed, what else?"
"You wish!"
"What if I decide to drop you now because of that remark?"
"You don't dare, Canarro." She held on to him for dear life and Justin laugh richly. He opened the door to the bedroom with one hand and he closed the door behind him.
He dropped Anne gently on the bed and he removed his tie.
He beamed with smiles and Anne looked at him warily.
"You've nailed it, right?"
"I have, dear. You are now looking at the new CEO of Canarro Inc."
"That's good." She murmured and Justin arched a brow.
"You are not happy for me?"
"Of course, I am. How else do you expect me to express it? Jump up and give you a kiss or what?"
"You are not happy, Anne!"
"Finally! You mentioned it. How do you expect me to be happy when you married me because of this same company. Its been 5 days since we got married, even though you married me for the wrong reasons. Its been 5 days and all you think and talk about is your company."
"You are changing course here, Anne." He accused.
"Oh spare me that! I'm gonna say what's bothering me." She stood up from the bed suddenly and she went over to him. She poked his chest repeatedly. "You told me you've never been in love. You said you don't have it in you to love me or any other woman again. You said........."
"Hold it, Anne. Go straight to the point. What are you driving at?"
"You know how much I hate being lied to. You know how much I hate lies. Why did you lie to me?"
Justin shuddered.
"What do you know? What did you see? There's no way you'd say all these without knowing something."
"There's no way a man would make a painting of a woman without being in love with her."
Tears ran down her cheeks as the bitter truth hit her.
Justin grabbed her shoulders suddenly. "You saw the painting? Why did you enter that room?"
She laughed hysterically as she pulled away from him. "I can enter anywhere I want in this house, remember I am your lovely wife."
The tears rushed out again.
"She hurt you, right?"
"You know nothing!" He snarled.
"Of course I know everything. She was or is a woman you love. She hurt you that's why you are scared to love again. I could show you how to if you want to love again."
"Who said I'm scared and that I want to love again? I still love that woman, I still love that idiot!" He yelled and she scrambled backwards.
The rooms in the house were sound-proof and the servants were also in their quarters which was very far from the main building.
He didn't want anyone to witness or hear their heated conversation, right now!
She looked at him with her mouth widely open.
"Its okay then. I thought I could feel loved even if its a little, from you. I guess I'm just a hopeless dream where you are." She went over to the bathroom door and her hand stilled on the doorknob.
She turned abruptly.
"Don't ever call me when you are at work again."
His head snapped up.
"Did you mean everything you said over the phone?"
She smiled "I don't!"
She disappeared into the bathroom.
She sat on the bath tub and her body shook with tears once more.
Could loving a man be so cruel?
What happened between them?
Now, she feels like a third party.
She shouldn't have shown any sign of hospitality six months ago when he had walked into the restaurant.
"He is a bastard!" She muttered as she stood up.
******
His gaze lingered on Scarlet's painting in the drawing room and he pulled it down.
This was the first painting he had ever made and it was of a woman who didn't appreciate him.
A woman who didn't think twice before she ran away with another man.
What Anne said was true.
He thought sadly.
He is scared to loved again.
He is also scared to let go of the lingering feelings he has for Scarlet even though love had been out of it a long time ago.
He had said he loved Scarlet because he didn't want to acknowledge what she said as the truth.
He tore it and he threw it into the trash.
He kept it in mind to tell Grace to throw out everything in her room on the third floor.
The third floor had a view of the lake beyond, that's why she had chosen it.
He looked at his wrist-watch once again, past 12, he was meant to be in bed by now since he has an early day.
Isn't he about to start what Anne had accused him of doing few months back?
Placing priorities over his company than over her.
A gentle man shouldn't make a woman cry!
He went out suddenly, ready to apologise to her.
He opened the door to the bedroom and he saw her fast-asleep.
He went into the bathroom to have a quick bath and he jumped out few minutes later.
He put on pants alone and he joined Anne in bed.
As usual, she was backing him again and she had shifted very far away from his side.
He would remedy that.
He moved over to her and he placed his arms around her so that they locked on her stomach.
Anne's eyes snapped open as she felt his hot breath against her skin.
Those sensations started again.
"What are you doing? I am mad at you. Let me go, Justin!" She said quietly and Justin began to feast on her neck.
"I know you are mad at me.......I am sorry, Fur!"
Her defences crumbled.
Justin felt her will to fight resolve and he turned her to face him.
"I guess you are right...you are right, Anne." He said as he brushed a strand of hair from her face.
She didn't use a cap again.
"I don't want to love anyone because I am scared to love again."
"That's not true, Jus. You are still in love."
"No, I don't love Scarlet. I still have lingering feelings for her......it doesn't mean I'm still in love with her. She hurt me way beyond measures, Annabeth."
"What did she do?" She asked quietly as she stared at his bare chest. Her hands itched to feel the smoothness of those chest muscles.
"She left me on our wedding day."
She looked up at him suddenly.
She couldn't believe a man like Justin Canarro was actually ready to settle down with someone.
"That's wasn't a good thing to remember that was why I said I've never loved before."
"That must have hurt a lot."
"You can never imagine, Anne."
She reached out and she touched his chest at last.
Justin stiffened a groan as she ran her hands over his chests, she rested on his nipples. She tugged gently and Justin grabbed her hand.
"Don't make me yearn for you, Anne!" He said with pure desire in his eyes and Anne blushed.
She raised up a knee and it came in contact with his hard body again.
"You are already on fire, Jus." She laughed. "For me!"
"I admit I am but I've waited for too long. I admit it again that I can't bring myself to cheat on you, I am a man, Anne. I have desires and my desire right now is to........."
"Shhhh." She said as she reached up to kiss him shortly on the lips. "You should have put on something to cover your chest before apologising to me. Anyway, your apology is accepted...Good night, Justin!"
She tried to move away from him but he pulled her back.
Exactly what she wanted!
She looked into his eyes and the next thing she knew, she was already beneath him.
"You wanna go to bed, Anne? Just like that? After making me this way? In your wildest dreams, Anne canarro."
He sought out her lips fiercely.
Their tongues began to fight for dominance until Anne gave up and Justin had his way.
"I want a wedding night, Anne."
"Use me as you wish," my love. The remaining words died down in her throat.
This moment was too precious to be destroyed by childish thoughts.
Justin pulled away from her and he looked at her already swollen lips before looking into her eyes. "You said what, Anne?"
"As if you didn't hear me.............."
He laughed richly before claiming her lips again.
